I remember those ancient times when we had to wait for the newspaper to come out the NEXT DAY (!) to find out the scores. Cannot believe civilization survived…

There’s bound to be a bit of lag time in space.

It’s funny because somebody else pasted a piece of paper to the screen and Brewster has been there for two hours.

Fortunately, you can always find a website explaining how to get all that information .01% faster, if you are just willing to spend the money.

This actually seems to be a growing problem of regression lately. We just got a new batch of workstations (HP Z8 Fury) at work, and the boot times are insanely slow. It’s almost a minute before they even POST, which is probably the slowest I have seen in the last 15 years of HPs we have purchased. I have also read that the latest AM5 consumer motherboards suffer the same issue. The components are faster than most people can ever use with more cores than the software takes advantage of—but the real thing we are affected by, now takes 5 times longer.

That’s nothing. When I used to program, our users used to complain if the response time went up to 2 Seconds instead of just One.

Yeah, I used to work on the big million dollar machines that could sometimes give you 1/10th of a second response time if you didn’t do anything stupid when you coded the programs.
