At work, a Haitian co-worker was having a speakerphone conversation in French when the person on the other line asked if anyone was listening. He said no one who understood French so my co-worker asked me in French if I spoke French and I said “no”. So he told the other person in French “See, he does not speak French.” The guy’s obvious response was “you asked him in French and he answered in French.” and my co-worker said “oh”.
I explained that I took one year in French in grade school which is only enough to understand a few words and the first thing they teach you is how to tell someone you are learning French but cannot speak it well. Pretty much the rest of the conversation was out of my league.

The truth hurts and he’s about to get first-hand experience … and then a second hand … and then a third hand …

Somebody on one side of that conversation is unaware how much of a rude thoughtless narcissistic person he is.

My Mom, the Grammar Nazi, would point out that “at” is a preposition. The answer to his question is, “Behind the ‘at’.”

Tony this would be hilarious, except it is too often the truth about inconsiderate people on their phones.

Last week I saw a woman loudly carrying on a conversation in a supermarket with her phone set on speaker and resting in her shopping cart. As rude as.
