So Loby and Moby were the only survivors of up to 6000 eggs and Loby was caught by Red’s Dad but Red is still trying to catch Moby who is still a tadpole? Dad’s story would make more sense if he claimed to have caught Moby’s great-great-great-grandfather’s brother.

Red is aware of the thousands of eggs that Mama frogs lay but didn’t work out that Moby Tadpole would have grown into Moby Bullfrog while Red’s Dad was still a boy. Red himself has tried to catch Moby Bullfrog. As this strip alternates between the late 1960s and early 1970s, we can assume that today’s strip is set before Red’s attempt to catch Moby Bullfrog which was printed four years ago.

I’m beginning to think Moby is a fictitious tadpole created by Dad to keep Red and Rover interested and busy!

By now, Moby Tadpole has turned into a frog.

Time in comic strips runs differently from our universe.
