Taught my grandson to write in cursive when he was in 3rd grade. His teacher didn’t like it. He hasn’t written in cursive since, he’s 19 now. I don’t think my granddaughter does either and she is in the 6th grade now. Sad isn’t it?
If you don’t know cursive, how can you read letters from your grandparents, historic documents, sign legal documents, etc. Some well-educated adults I know have such poor printing, it is not legible.I guess that is why computer generated signatures are now accepted as legal on some documents(credit card and medical)
I read a story about a family visiting the National Archives and when they were viewing the Declaration of Independence (which is written in cursive) the school-age son asked his Dad what it said because he couldn’t read cursive.
Some schools still teach cursive, usually in fourth grade. I think it’s a waste, personally. Reading cursive is occasionally useful, but learning to write it takes a lot of hours that could be used to teach something else. Print is perfectly serviceable and usually more legible than cursive.

They’d blame it on aliens.

I wonder if the last person who can read and write cursive has been born yet.

I wonder if there are new teachers out there who can’t read and/or write cursive?

And the kids won’t get blamed for it.
