Ah, I see your problem, Scott. You think that you’re supposed to LIKE the candidate.
I’ll tell you, I never liked HRC, but she was VASTLY more qualified to be president than Trump.
I kinda like Joe, in a goofy grandpa kind of way. And he is a passingly qualified Chief Executive. But if someone more qualified comes along, I will vote for them.
People voted for Trump because they “liked” him. And look what happened to us. He was totally unfit and betrayed his Oath of Office.
Trump is what you get when you vote for who you “like”.
There are many dedicated public servants in politics. Perhaps still a majority. Many retain their integrity navigating a system riddled with corrupting forces, most notably money.
We ought to assess candidates based on the policies they advocate and on their potential ability to bring those policies to fruition. Past record, qualifications, and integrity.
Bush was elected because a majority thought he would be the better beer buddy. Gore was too wooden. Regan was genial and avuncular. Jefferson would not be elected today because he had a squeaky voice.
We can complain about candidates, but as Jefferson said, “The government you elect is the government you deserve.”

It’s not a popularity contest. All politicians should be suspect.

If you want somebody else, maybe they could run for some office other than president.

So… It’s basically going to be like every other election for the past 40 years, with the exception of Reagan and Obama… Maybe.

So the same on most elections. Few if any “perfect” candidates.

Good vs. evil this time.
Only one of the candidates would sell out the US in exchange for flattery.

We penalize anyone who wants to serve the country. Hardly a mystery that we don’t have bright young people going into politics anymore.

Really? Douglas Adams and John Adams out of bound now? Quotes from both have been removed. Real subversive stuff.
