I’ve always hated ties. I’d use the snap on kind especially since they were only for fashion, and no longer for closing one’s collar. Now, I’m a minister and choose to wear the clerical collar with Oxford tab.
They do make shorter ties. Just buy ones made for boys. They also make long ties for tall men. Some wear ties way too long, so they get made fun of in the political cartoons.
The last time my husband wore a necktie was to my mother’s funeral – in 2011. He couldn’t remember how to tie it; the undertaker said he could do it, but hubby would have to lay down. My BIL did it. The tie is still tied, and hanging on the same hanger as the suit.

I just always tucked the da…rn thing in my shirt. Of course, being 6 foot tall, I usually ended up with it the other way…
