It’s been 30 years, and I still love being retired. But I don’t ever get up much before noon. Then again, I usually don’t get the bed before 3 AM or 4. The time is 3:37 now, and I’m not tired yet.
The dog gets us up at first light. It is then time to observe and celebrate a successful sunrise with coffee. Next is a systems check of bladder and bowels, and then shower. A light leak check of the eyelids follows that everyone mistakes for a morning nap.

I retired 20 years ago this week. For years I still awoke at 6:25, then it moved to 6:50 eventually. I’ve got nowhere to go!

But if you weren’t woke up, you wouldn’t have the pleasure to be able to go back to bed.

When I first retired, I was always amazed at all the people out and about during the day — I thought everyone except me would be at work.

Stupid circadian rhythm! Even if I’m up past midnight, I’m awake between 5 and 6. That’s not how retirement is supposed to work!!
