The bistro’s favorite sushi is making it look like a fish. It’s their easiest one too.

As high schoolers we used to “grunion hunt” as an excuse to party on the beach in the middle of the night and wee hours of the morning. No nets allowed, only hands and folded up t-shirts. Then we’d drown. Every one of us. Ah the old days.

    GGGgggg-sundheittttt-ttt.

Banzai!!! Our plan to sell rice balls at 8 dollars a piece is a great success! The emperor will be pleased and I won’t have to do a sukiyaki and embarrass my family :D

Grunion always makes me think is a later season story arc on The Beverly Hillbillies. It was time for the grunion to spawn, and Mr. Drysdale made the Clampetts think they were invaders from the island of Grun.

Avocado, celery, mayonnaise and a tiny bit of cooked or chopped seafood are the main ingredients of most sushi. I’d rather eat sashimi or nigiri

If I could resculpt my brain, I’d go with the Statue of David.

Those grunions make for splendid “caviar” feast for sea birds. Give’s the gulls a break from stealing food from beach goers!

With saké, a fresh, delicious (even artistic) change from standard fare — but quite spendy at the restaurants worth visiting on the coast.

Try that same menu too far inland and you’ll pay in much harsher way.

At the end of the day, no matter how you shape it or slice it, it’s still Sushi. It’s edible but doesn’t tickle my palate.

Next they’ll tell us that octopus brains are significantly different now from years ago thanks to climate change.
