I graduated in 1961…so the brilliant reunion committee decided to be clever and honor “61” years….I didn’t go because the previous ones I attended were like being back in high school.
The cheerleaders showed up in jeans, elastic midriff tops and glitter sprinkled all over themselves! OY!
The name tags were embarrassing…One guy came up to me and covered his name tag and wanted me to guess who he was,…LOL
The majorettes were still as snooty as ever and clung to eachother….
The football players were still in a huddle all night….
Go figure!
And like Amanda said, the band was so loud and to make things worse, the food sucked!
My school has an “all alumni” reunion every year. As I understand it, folk just hang out in the gym . . . talking? With too-loud pop music from all the different eras? Maybe there’s soda?Needless to say, I have never felt the least interest in attending, and am thoroughly baffled that anyone does.
I went to my second wife’s 50th high school reunion. I was the “trophy husband”, 24 years younger than she. She ran into her “high school sweetheart”and went out to lunch with him a couple of times afterward. She asked me what would happen if she were unfaithful to me. I told her there was only one way to find out. She decided to remain blissfully ignorant on that score. :)
I entered high school when I was young, 12, and graduated early. It was hell for me. When I came back home after years away in med school and post doc work I had the shock of meeting one of the kids who had bullied me. He was a custodian at the hospital where I was teaching. “Hey, Teto!!” he screamed at me, “It’s me, Stupid Bully. What are you doing here?” “It’s Doctor Teto. I am teaching and practicing here.” Never spoke to him again. Did not go to any reunions even after the reunion committee found my home address and sent handwritten invitations.

Never went to any of my reunions. Last year would have been my 50th.

My school shut down about 5 years after I graduated, never had a reunion, never looked back.

All in all I didn’t have a good time! LOL

Amanda, please forgive my ignorance, but what are “the TCs”? The Twin Cities, perhaps?

Ah, sentimental complaining… those were good times. But they could’ve been better.

Music is always too loud at these things. You nailed it, Amanda.

Since I wasn’t very sociable in school, I didn’t have a lot of friends. Went to one reunion and only knew two people. Once was enough for me.

Never made it to mine. Got a GED instead and a couple of babies…. don’t worry, it went up hill (slowly) from there.
