I refuse to shop at the local Tar___ store for 2 reasons. The first one was a lady who was screaming the f word constantly at the clerk who was trying to help her in front of a child (not hers) and when asked to lower her voice or watch her language started screaming at me. Reason 2 was one of the staff was pocketing the check that Tar___ had ecashed and trading it for cash one or two months later. And it was one of the managers!
I had a manager talk to me like that on voicemail. I told him if he ever did that again I’d either report him to HR (employee handbook called that sexual harrassment) or punch him in the face, depending on my mood. He never spoke directly to me again.
I worked in IT at the Sharper Image. The programmers sat near the phone customer service people—the exchanges, returns, where is my order people. I often heard, “[Sir/Ma’am], if you continue to use that sort of language I’ll have to hang up.” It must have been in the book because they always used that phrase. The customer service people were generally underemployed and over educated. I loved them.

When i had to deal with a customer who threatened to report me to the boss, i’d tell them my name and told them to spell it right.
(i knew the bosses wouldn’t have my back, but the bluff worked every time)
