All that makes a lot more sense than what humans offer their pets. I always choose unscented because I cannot imagine an animal with much better olfactory senses than ours really enjoys being drowned in flowers.
If you really want the final word on composting, read the book “Humanure”. You can get it free online. We have been composting everything organic for decades (including whole fish after filleting and human waste). Done right, never a bad odor and nothing but safe soil amender when pile is done (2 years). This is in Minnesota.

I have composted for decades and never had one smell out of it. You only put vegetable matter in the pile and nothing animal.
