This continues to be the best arc. I also adore both final lines.

What I also like about this one is that it shows while the two don’t exactly relate to each other, with Alice and Pete basically being a hare and a tortoise in human bodies, They do love each other and in a pinch Petey.. tries to help. He fails because a swift breeze will conquer him, but you can’t fault him for trying or the normally self centered alice for giving up her spot so he can get help. The latter’s especially noticeable given you’d expect her to be upset Petey failed but no… she simply wants her brother to be okay.

Very kind of ya Alice to have Petey tended to first.

So much for Petey’s dreams of becoming an ER doc.

Well done Alice. Poor Petey is clearly hospital food by now.

One more syllable and you could have imitated an old car horn, Petey.

    Petey’s down. I repeat… Petey is down.

Thank you, Alice! Your generosity in letting Petey get aid first is a real kindness. Petey fainted at the sight of your bloody knee, and his palpitations may need serious care. Hurry, Madeline!
