I don’t know about that. I have an Australian Cattle Dog and she is VERY food motivated.

We puppy dawg sit for friends, relatives, and neighbors. It doesn’t take long at all for them, regardless of breed, to get excited about going for a walk then coming home and getting a treat for being such a good boy/grrl. Most of the time they will let me take off their leash or harness then they mosey over and sit patiently at the table where the treats are. Yes, life is good!

Rover may have got some of the details of Treasure Island wrong from a human viewpoint but he does realise that Treasure Island contains pirates although he sees them from his canine viewpoint.

St. Bernards! Very food focused. Just watch your fingers when feeding them treats. Oh yeah.

I’ve never met a dog that isn’t food obsessed.

One of the main characters IS Black Dog. Well may be a side character but how prominent of a character would you expect a dog to be?

We have a doxie mix and if he doesn’t see the treat, he doesn’t do the trick.

My Golden Retrievers were never food motivated. Newton is a Lab and is always looking for food! We suspect he was the runt of the litter (we hadn’t seen the other pups because he was the “leftover” so we took him) and his siblings gobbled up most of the food once they were weaned. His nickname is, affectionately, Piglet.

I can tell when my Lizzie has ‘treat’ on her mind. Big eyes and a hint of smile on her lips, lol!

My wife accuses me of the same thing as Rover. She says all I think about is food. Once you reach a certain age, what the heck else is there to think about?

My godmother’s skipperkee bolted off his leash and was found doing tricks to try to get cheesecake from a stranger. I’d say that’s pretty food-motivated

Pirates are a water-based occupation, and Labs are water-loving dogs
