Then how many people show up for training? Then how many people finish the training, but do not show up for work? Then how many show up for the first day of work? Then how many show up for the 2nd day of work?
Reminds me of a friend of mine who, along with 60 others , was hired at the local big box hardware store. One year later, he was the only one out of that group still employed there.
A contractor had a new guy come to the site for a refueling outage (nuclear plant). He checked in with HR and then spent 2 weeks in a hotel (paid for by the contractor and he was getting paid) while his background and security checks were completed. When he finally got access we gave him a tour of the site and containment building. He quit the next day. I do hope our company was smart enough to shove all those expenses back onto the contractor.

Use to happen a lot where I used to work! They’d interview a dozen people, maybe 5 would show up for work then 3 of them would walk out before lunch!
It was a bottling company, good union wages though!
