Once Hollywood glomed onto Tarzan, it ruined him.

Edgar Rice Burroughs produced a competing Tarzan movie true to the book, but the public rejected it.

one of the best books ever! Tarzan was RAF fighter ace in WWI, and one of the most popular Lords in Parliament for always sticking up for common man…you don’t know Tarzan, and yeah, when he arrives back in England he can speak 5 or 7 languages, including French and English

They did the same thing to the Bible over the years. “Artistic license” gives the directors et al ‘permission’ to misrepresent their material.

Not sure how “Noble” Tarzan is. After all, he is a British Viscount.

The “Me Tarzan, You Jane” originated with Johnny Weissmuller.

They hired him because he was a world famous Olympic Gold Medal winner.

Then, they discovered that he could not remember his lines. While they were arguing about how to “Fix” his memory, he came up with the argument that a man who was raised by Apes was unlikely to be able to speak English, anyway.

And “Me Tarzan, You Jane” became his lines.
