It didn’t end well…..☹️

I didn’t mind writing the “what I did over the summer” essays, but I didn’t have the experiences other kids in school had. We didn’t take trips to Yellowstone or anything like that. I did chores, went to the library to get the books which were the assigned summer reading, played out of doors, went fishing, etc. The kids whose parents went on trips seemed to have a much more interesting and fascinating summer vacation than we did.

So what’s that, an ‘Incomplete’?

I made it all the way to graduation without ever having to write one of those essays.

I always found those “What I did for my summer vacation” essays were kinda like giving you homework for your summer vacation.

when we see grade school kids here in japan walking down the street in their regulation school track suits or uniforms in august we joke that summer vacation must’ve started. it really seems that kids spend most of their vacation time at school, mostly for club activities…

He didn’t get an award and is therefore boycotting the system. Ope, I meant a good grade. Freudian slip.
