I’m 72. Last year or so the nap attack happens about 4:30…usually the nap hits when grandaughters are still here, talking loud, cooking show on tv….pots and pans rattling behind me, microwave dinging……and I go out just like getting anesthetic at the hospital…I’m here then I’m gone despite all that around me…out like a light for 40 minutes. Weirdest thing.
I’m 40 and I thought i was starting to need naps….turns out i was getting a pretty bad throat cold and it was giving me a lot of fatigue. I’m all better now for what its worth! (Tested negative for covid also so that was good)
Right now it is 2:11 am. Husband is upstairs on his computer and I am on my laptop in the kitchen. Some time around 2:30/3 am he will come down for late night snack and then we will go to bed. If I fall asleep before 6 am I am lucky.
We were always late night people, but since Covid and the pandemic – no need to be up at any specific time – we have gotten worse. We are working on getting up again before noon instead of at 2 pm. Tomorrow I will get up just in time to get dressed and go to my embroidery chapter meeting for the month (my second meeting since Covid started) for 10 am. He will stay in bed until around 12 or so when I return home. Though when we have to – such as my meeting – we do get up in time to go. Sunday we are supposed to go to a reenactment where we will demonstrating crafts (me – embroidery, him – weaving) and have to be there early to setup – somehow we will manage. (Hopefully it will not rain as weather reports say will happen – if so, then event the next day if it does not rain then.)

A plugger’s all-nighter is when they sleep all the way through.

I’m thinking about retiring from my part-time delivery job. Hard to drive while napping.

I was so against naps when I was a child. What was I thinking!?

Short naps (<20 minutes) are good, longer ones can disrupt your sleep cycle.

I resent that—while I very seldom sleep on night, I do stay awake during the whole day ! ! !

I don’t usually think about sitting or resting during the day being busy and all but when I do sit down, that’s it. And… we’re done!

My nap is between 1:30 and 3 in the afternoon.

I fell asleep in my recliner last night while reading at my computer. That counts as an all-nighter.
