    It sounds like Fred is using old-style chess notation instead of saying Knight to C2.

    My godfather’s son is about 3 years older than me. When we would visit them, he would greet us by saying, “Who wants to lose a game of chess?” Since Bob is a genius (no exaggeration), I never beat him.

    Fred’s using Descriptive Notation. Most chess sites use Algebraic Notation, which I find much easier to follow.
