Doesn’t want to admit summer is over.

Reminds me of the O. Henry story “The Last Leaf.”

I wrote a poem about the last winter leaf once. Breaking from the tree, floating in the wind, nosing in and out of the corners of the world, until a child caught it and crushed it. It was after I read an article about an elderly woman’s dog that had been cruelly killed by some rotten teenagers. Sorry about the downer, but this reminded me of that for some reason. Haven’t thought about it in like 40 years.

Life will always give us a first … And a last ;-)

It will only come down after you have raked up all the others.

Some oak leaves around here hang tough until the Spring. They come down when you think it’s safe to put the rakes away.

A leaf that doesn’t want to let it go…

He’s hangin in there….

Now that’s what you call “tenacity”. We’re presently watching our huge pine tree do its annual needle drop all over our driveway.

Absolutely beautiful artwork, as always. And such a nice kind doggie, too. I love her tail; it’s always wagging.

But leaves falling is a natural and necessary thing for trees. It’s an adaptation to live through the winter. Hurts as much as you cutting your finger nails and just as important.

Sorry if that’s not “poetic”.
