Yeah!

Remember when they used to take your groceries out and load them in the car for you? Seems a long time ago.

I refuse to use self checkout. I prefer to interact with a real person.

I asked a Walmart employee the same thing when self checkout first went in and got a shocked looked that I would even ask such a thing but a lot of agreement from others in the line

After you’ve checked yourself out there’s a semi at the back door that you can unload before you leave.

Walmart has ONE cashier in each store now. You do all your own check-out and payment. Fewer staff to pay. Higher profits. “Service” is becomming a lost art. Only restaurants have service now, and those workers deserve whatever tips they get.

Stores are going to start charging you for using a cashier.

A store we patronized when we lived in San Francisco several years ago installed those self checkout things. I made sure to get my steak payment every time I used one. Maybe some milk or chicken every once in a while. You wanna make me work, then pay me.

I refuse to use those self checkouts. At Home Hardware the overseer will/has taken the stuff out of my basket, rang them up him/herself.

I only use that when I have only one or two items. Anything more, cashier.

I’ve asked that question several times

self checkout frees up employees for other work and once you get used to using the register, it’s a lot faster than standing in line to have a cashier do what you could do yourself. might as well get used to the future now… ☺

They aren’t designed for people in wheelchairs.
