Crayons surely taste better

I haven’t had candy corn in so long, I can’t really remember why I disliked it. But I did dislike it.

Crayons are at least a safe wax… I remember wax candy like the little soda shaped things you’d bite the wax top off and drink the inside. They still make those.

Alice eats crayons? We have a potential presidential candidate here!

I actually like candy corn, especially the ones with chocolate flavour on the bottom.

And he can separate each layer along their lines so he doesn’t eat more than one colour at a time.

I remember back when I ate candy that I was just in it for the sugar rush. I would take a pack of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (4 pack) and eat each one as one bite and move on to the next. Or a bag of M&M’s (or a tube of Mini M&M’s) and just dump the entire thing in and chew it up. I do not miss those days.

So, a scene in my first-grade class I remember to this day:Teacher (to child on the other side of the room I couldn’t see): “Stop eating the crayons!”Kid next to the crayon-eater (excitedly): “He’s throwing up!! Woah! You can see all the colors!”

Cultivated tastes, these two. Or should that be acquired tastes?

This is one of the few things Petey and I disagree on. Candy corn was only good for sticking on your teeth to make vampire fangs.

I was trying to think of what that box on his head reminded me of, then it hit me. The Carpenter in Lewis Carroll’s “The Walrus and the Carpenter” is pictured as wearing a similar, but better fitting, box

What is this nonsense?!? Candy corn tastes of HONEY … and wax.

Butt out, Alice! This is an important Mother and Son Moment, with maternal understanding and filial resignation, resulting in an ameliorated Halloween. Less trauma, more flavored wax….
