This reminds me of my Mom’s former coworker who was a perpetual liar. Around Thanksgiving one year, this woman was bragging about her “homemade” pumpkin cheesecake to one of the customers. Partly because everyone who dealt with her regularly knew what a liar she was and partly because her answers made it hilariously obvious that she had never baked a thing in her life, the customer kept asking questions about her recipe and process. The best part was when the customer asked if she used canned pumpkin and she proudly declared that she would never use that garbage. Instead, she claimed her DIL and granddaughter saved the scrapings from making their jack-o-lanterns for her in the freezer. Mom and I have been joking about “pumpkin gut cheesecake” every Thanksgiving since.
