I had that problem – then they moved my baby sister into my room when I was in my early teens.

Husband and I live in a 3 bedroom house with a family room (we use as our main craft studio) off the kitchen and half the basement is finished. We have not been fortunate enough to have children. We expanded to take up all the space on our own.

Second bedroom is home office for personal, my accounting practice, his online counseling practice, our craft business, used also for dealing with being officers of our reenactment unit and for me as officer of my embroidery chapter – plus 5 and a half bookcases, computers and printers – office storage in one small closet and craft inventory in the other small closet.

Third bedroom was setup originally as a guest room – used as such 4 times – back when my niece (30s) and nephew (late 20s) could still sleep in the bed together. Mostly now it is my teddy bear room.

Living room was decorated colonial and was very nice – until Covid came along and husband – who had decorated the room originally – decided that “we” (he) needed a smallish big screen TV (which sort of messes up the decorating in the room – and I used to have to argue to have our Christmas tree in it as same is not period correct) for “Friday night midnight movie on TV”, “Saturday night date night movie on TV” and “Sunday afternoon James Bond movie fest on TV” (I am excused from attending the last one) as well as it serves his “loom room” – with his loom for weaving in it. Under the loom agreement I get it back mid Dec to mid Jan for Christmas decorating – which is now thrown off by the TV.

Family room behind the kitchen serves as main studio space – and since Covid start, main food storage area. Dining room is decorated in 18th century style with furniture stored against the wall until needed. Serves as storage for reenacting stuff we bring with us to events and extra craft work space – such as for ironing.

Half of basement which is not finished serves as his wood and leather working studio areas (and laundry and furnace). Finished part of basement has cutting table for fabric and mat board – plus storage. Our detached garage is his wood work shop.

Shed behind the garage is storage for a handful of home gardening items and the tent, displays, etc for craft shows.

Yeah – we needed a second bedroom plus!

Baldo’s bedroom is messier than Luann’s.

Actually kid, you need to clean up this one. But it really doesn’t look that bad, at least compared to Jeremy’s room (Zits) or Luann’s room.

Just move “stuff” into the garage. That’s what most of my neighbors do. About 75% can’t fit the car inside. Amusing.

I relate to Baldo a bit. My husband is a bit of a “collector” – he develops a passion or hobby and collects stuff related to it for a while, then moves on to a new enthusiasm. This is not stuff he hopes to sell, just stuff he loves. Every inch of house is crammed with the various collections and hobbies, plus other stuff we just haven’t gone through and put away / given away / thrown away. My mom claims it is a hoarding issue, but it’s really quite different. It would be nice to have a lot less stuff or file the stuff we have better, though. And an extra room to file it in sounds really, really nice. Until he fills that up as well.
