There’s a huge difference between banned books like Tom Sawyer and 1984, and those advocating sexual variants that elementary age children — and, sometimes, earlier — are too young to grasp. Many are proceeding without caution in these matters.
Aaaaand this wholesome comic is no longer that wholesome.
I agree with the commenter above; the whole “banned books” issue is about schools containing age-appropriate material in their libraries— note that we’re talking about school libraries, mostly elementary and grade-schools.
The word “ban” is also misleading: no one is calling for the removal of these books from public libraries, no one is calling for the removal of these books from Amazon. Nothing is preventing a parent from purchasing one of these “banned” books and giving them to their children. Is the book age-appropriate for the child in question? That’s up to the parent to decide. This really has less to do with “homophobia” than “age appropriateness”, but the activists pushing this material into elementary school libraries will claim otherwise.
PLEASE keep MDID wholesome and non-political; it has been such a welcome oasis to all the other stuff out there.
Wow, I like this strip , but the reader’s comments are either very misinformed or just plain ignorant. Thanks for a nice strip and open minded point of view.
