Re: Contractors & ladders: At my old job, a contractor actually stepped off a ladder and landed badly. He tried to sue the school because it was our ladder he’d ‘borrowed.’ Everywhere i ever worked banned lending out our ladders to contractors.
I worked at a hardware store in the shipping/ receiving department. The manager would always announce herself before she came into the department. We were usually working anyways but not always so we appreciated her “heads up”.
i had a boss who told me that he knew we weren’t working full-on all the time, so just stay out of sight when we weren’t. He knew how to find us if he needed to. A couple of my better bosses operated on the same principle.
Fabric store where I worked made us straighten and organize things when we weren’t waiting on customers. And if there was on customer in the store, we had to pull out the vacuum cleaner and duster and get busy. We got one 15 minute loo break for every 4 hours worked.

My favorite is after everyone’s been in a frenzy for a week to make things perfect, the visitors do NOT show up!

Proof CEOs and politicians all live in a cultivated sanitized world.
