Omens are impossible to interpret. Maybe winning is a way to show all of her worst impulses as she squanders it in a week. Maybe losing is her way of donating money to wherever her state says the lottery money goes.
Or she could just be a good person and do good works without expecting to be rewarded for it.
I knew Alex was stupid, but I did not figure it was this bad.
Some folks need to be swallowed by a whale before they do good works.
Pretty fool-proof way of justifying her not doing good works.
That’s our problem, our creative minds can come up with anything to justify our actions.

If the Divine wants me to win the lottery, I only need to buy one ticket. I bought one, it didn’t win, I see no point in buying another.
