    “. . . need replaced. . .”

The Amer. Herit. Dict. 5th Ed. describes that this is common regional grammar in W. PA and E. OH. (I’m surprised I didn’t comment in 2018, but that was probably before I started reading NDN.)

That could take a while. Like a couple of years.

I’m new to this strip. Is it just me or does the guy on the right look like “Francis” from the comic strip Momma? It’s not the same cartoonist, but I really thought it was (Mel Lazarus).

Car repair can be so expensive. What with all those cinder blocks to prop it up in the front yard. And it seems like you have to replace all seven of the scented trees… at the same time! Ah, well, when it rains it pours. Speaking of which, I should replace the duct tape holding up the cardboard over the broken side door window.

Pat, it looks like you need to post bail over in “Rabbits Against Magic.”

A really thorough tune-up, involving cannibalizing several junked cars of the same make and model.

Most mechanics aren’t that honest, I think you have a keeper, the mechanic I mean not the car!

My guess is that this mechanic’s brother or cousin is a used-car salesman.

When your monthly duct tape bill is higher than the payment on a new(ish) car, time to trade up.
