Romans were famous for men crying over their beloved pet dog dying.

Or when one of their kids is seriously ill to the point of death. Only time I saw my Dad cry in front of us kids was when my youngest sister got really sick. She was only a month old or so had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance from home with mom and our family doctor who had come to the house be in the ambulance and Dad taking us kids in the car following it. My sister survived. Never saw my Dad cry again.
