These are all games the my in-laws played regularly. Never got into them myself. I knew of them, just never got into them. As a kid, we would play Crazy 8’s with adapted rules by my mother’s mother and Go Fish with my dad’s mum. Also played a lot of War and Concentration. Nowadays, the missus and I play Wild Rummy.
Pick one, though you’d have to remind me how to play Whist. It’s been a while. My family is really a Pinochle family, but it’s not much fun with two people.
I used to play canasta with my mother. Once a week she would give me my allowance, three dollars (generous for the 1950s). Then we would play canasta and she would win it all back. As a consolation, she gave me some change for the ice cream truck.

The answer is always cribbage, for two players. Gin rummy if you must.

Ahh, all the old games; I admit I never played Whist but Euchre was one of the first.
