Anyone remember when the news came on and the actual journalists read the actual news without slant or bias for 30 minutes???

And then toward the end of the news, they would sometimes switch to a different set with the word “OPINION” in large letters on the background wall? And then the actual journalist would state their opinion – that you could easily tell was their opinion?

    I miss those days.

I miss Walter Cronkite, Huntley & Brinkley, and Tom Brokaw.

I miss the NEWS being a public service with journalistic ideals, not a for profit show. 60 minutes showed there was a large enough interest by the public for journalistic reporting. Ted Turner expanded on that. Then the profiteers took over…

Maybe it’s time for a remake of “Network.”

The 1960’s & 70’s had such great “news readers” that actually wrote their own scripts each night- Walter Cronkite, Peter Jennings, Howard K. Smith, Chet Huntley & David Brinkley—as one network used to say, “news that you could trust”.
