Happiness is a warm possum.

Again, the tantalizingly beautiful, bare, spare landscapes of a Samuel Beckett play or two. Two characters, a featureless setting… except for a lone tree, in “Waiting for Godot”. And a very similar set up and setting in “Act Without Words.” Intentional? When form and content kiss, intention makes the bliss.

And there’s this weird connection between the Nobel Prize winning Irish dramatist and the iconic American cartoonist Ernie Bushmiller:

According to an article in The American Reader, a correspondence between Samuel Beckett and Ernie Bushmiller does exist. The letters were exchanged over a four-month period in 1952 and 1953, and they shed light on the work of both men. However, it is not clear whether the correspondence was real or a hoax. The letters are currently held in Stamford, Connecticut, by a longtime neighbor and friend of Ernie Bushmiller and his wife.

So simple and peaceful. I love it. This just moved into one of my top ten BITD strips.
