I mentioned “Scooby Doo” earlier this year and someone replied to me that Shaggy and Velma would have been a good romantic team. Velma thought so too in the series “Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated” which was originally shown in 2010-2012. Velma tried to be romantic with Shaggy but he kept putting Scooby first. In an episode I watched today, Velma commented, “I feel like the mayo on a Shaggy-Scooby sandwich!” Shaggy and Scooby both licked their lips and wanted a sandwich as a result.
Today’s strip is all about Rover’s expressions! Love how he points to the comic he wants and then looks at it intently while Red “reads” it to him; his reactions to the ants getting sucked up but getting spit out are priceless! As I’ve said before, Brian is a master at giving Rover wonderful expressions and bringing him to life for us.
One of my very earliest memories was of a Dalmatian that used to come and visit us from down the block. My mother was a big dog lover and she’d invite him in. I’d sometimes find my older brother on the floor reading the comics with the Dalmatian next to him, for all the world like Red and Rover

Plastic toy ants in the Stone Age. Another of that comic strip’s wonderful anachronisms.

Good progression of expressions.

Now this is just cheap, Brian: taking existing strips and having Red describe them.
