English is not my first language but seems …. I need to re-learn it all over again …. (or maybe cancel all that out and take up Spanish)

Due to lack of detail planning, the defense failed resulting in utter defeat.

The major problem I see is that it isn’t a compound sentence. It’s a complex sentence.

But English IS my first language. At least I thought it was.

I learned it as “Defeat of deduct went over defense before detail.” But since there have been more versions of it.

I went to Egypt and swam in denial.

I haven’t heard that one since I was in 9th grade. (1958)

Considering that we spend an awful lot of time making sure we have used right, write, rite and wright correctly, along with all the other idiotic similar messes in English, possibly we should all give it up and learn a language that makes sense, assuming that there is (or is it their is, or they’re is) one.

That sounds like something AI would come up with.

Well, it was at least a humorous use of the three words.
