I’m at least proficient with them all. I’m a geekette, though, so it’s just what I do to amuse myself. One thing was I just hated the blinking time on the VCR, so that was the first thing I set.

Today, I just taught Dad how to use another feature on his smartphone. He didn’t know where to find all his pics. Gallery, Dad.

Boo hiss. What about rotary dial phones, setting up component stereo systems and balancing the sound, starting a carbureted vehicle on a cold day… And what makes you think that we boomers have any problem with our phones & computers… we invented them.

I find that kids can use but generally do not understand the devices, much less master the devices.

I’m still deal with the contrary advice of setting my mechanical watch by ONLY moving the hands clockwise or ONLY turning them counterclockwise.

We have always had technology in our lives; it never took up so much of our personal time. People spend more time touching their phones than touching their infant children. How messed up is that?

Young people may be more versed on how to use modern technology but they have no common sense and have no clue how to work out problems on their own, even simple problems. Being able to find something on a phone or tablet doesn’t make you smart, it just means you use them often enough to be more familiar with them. None of them can even do a simple task like reading a map. Like someone else said boomers invented most of the technology the kids use today.
