We had a couple of rhubarb plants in the back yard so we enjoyed rhubarb sauce a lot.

The trick is not to tell us it is rhubarb…or spinach…or asparagus…or any other vegetable that gets mushy when cooked.

So, is this about the pie being rhubarb, or is it about their mom’s cooking? Because rhubarb pie itself is good (and so is carrot cake).

My mom makes an AWESOME rhubarb custard pie!!!!

I always wondered why people would ruin perfectly good strawberries by adding rhubarb?

They don’t like strawberry-rhubarb pie or carrot cake? Are they CRAZY??

Strawberries are to rhubarb what tomato sauce is to eggplant; gotta wash the stuff down somehow. But yeah, the mom’s cooking is a running gag (no pun intended) in this strip.

Had rhubarb AND strawberries on the farm.. mmm-MMMM!Good groceries!!

I always wonder why folk ruin perfectly good rhubarb by adding strawberries??? (But if you’re gonna add another fruit, cherries are good with it.)

Here in the south we use blackberries.
