You can’t judge a book Fred, but maybe Fifi can help?

Oh Fred. I have a feeling his unfortunate appearance makes him more aggressive. No boy dog wants to look like that.

Taken from the American Kennel Club website…

“Although it is the national dog of France, the Poodle actually originated in Germany. The breed name comes from the German word “pudel” or “pudelin,” which means “to splash in the water.” In France, the breed is called “Caniche,” which is French for “duck dog.””

“It might seem like the ultimate canine fashion statement, but the traditional Poodle cut is really all about function, not fashion. Less hair would make the Poodle a more efficient swimmer but more vulnerable to cold water. To get the best of both worlds, Poodle owners placed puffs of hair around the joints and the upper torso to protect the joints and vital organs.”

Poor Poodle dogs. Ya have to feel sorry for them. I doubt any other breed (or very few) get haircuts like they get and they look so silly.

Crossing swords and fooled by a foppish appearance. This reminds me of Sir Percy Blakeney aka The Scarlet Pimpernel and Don Diego aka Zorro.

We had standard poodles one I was growing up. Anything but froufrou. We lived near a saltwater marsh, they love to get in there and roll around. They caught rabbits. They were energetics, and very smart. With wonderful personalities.

I’d be angry all the time, too, if I looked like that.

Poodles rarely let their appearance get the better of them!

Why are you trying to pick fights, Fred? Remember – no dog is responsible for their hairstyle.

Some poodles can be very temperamental and forget the cute part.

Comic book adventure spun off from Lady and the Tramp: Lady was found loose by vagabonds and guarded by a tough dog; Tramp lured him off by promising a fight with “a fancy dan who thinks himself quite a scrapper.” (Tramp, of course, was the “fancy dan,” beat the other dog, and snuck back to set Lady free.)
