The plural of moose should be meese. Or mooses at least. Something other than just moose again!

You’re half right, Jamaal. Mongeese and mongooses are the plural of mongoose. Or, is the plural? Or, are the plurals? Since I really don’t care that much, I sleep well.

If we have feet, why not beet. If naked is two syllables, why is baked only one?

Ah, English! The hardest language in the world to learn.

Straycat 1 MFRXIM PREMIUM MEMBER less than a minute agoI’m playing a ‘scrabble’ game on line and even at 74, english spelling is making me crazy. There should be a rule that you can spell words PHONETICALY …..(I had to check 3 dictionaries to find the correct spelling.) :-D

Then there’s the Golden Oldie about the zookeeper who wanted to order two of them, but couldn’t figure out if he should order two mongoose, or two mongooses, or two mongeese. Finally he just wrote, “Please send me a mongoose. P.S. Please send me another.”

But my all-time favorite take on the subject of singulars and plurals is Allan Sherman’s wonderful One Hippopotami. Best line: “The plural of half is whole.”
