I started noticing this with my high school classmates once we started hitting our 40s and 50s. Suddenly, everything kids were doing was bad, and nothing was as good as it was “back in our day.” It’s ridiculous, of course, but turning into grumpy old men is a time-honored tradition.
Why not, their protesting everything. I have never been to a protest and do not desire to. I just write my Congressman, ( for what it’s worth) Being a non violent person is the main reason I don’t attend these events.
Let’s go block an interstate. I-5 in Oregon was blocked when I went there for my Grandson’s wedding. That wouldn’t happen in Florida. They would be cleared out by state troopers or run over by big rigs.
Li’l Abner cartoonist Al Capp became crotchety in his final years. He added to his strip a protest group called S.W.I.N.E., for “Students Wildly Indignant About Nearly Everything.”
Oh my goodness! It just hit me. All these old dudes are the right age (these days) that they would have been the teenagers and hippies protesting whatever was going on in the 1960s and -70s. And they’re still at it. True change takes more than protest.
