I’ve gotten to a point now where usually I can just tell my brain to shut up as soon as I get an intrusive thought. Although every few weeks I’ll fail at doing that and get stuck in bed for a few hours with either massive anxiety or depression.

I get intrusive songs. They are connected with negative emotions, especially anxiety. I have as yet not discovered a way to get rid of either the song or the emotion.

It ironic, and seemingly counterintuitive, that fighting against negativity actually reinforces the behavior and makes it stronger. Neuroplasticity can be used to stop fighting and start living.
