In the just completed cycle, Peanuts Begins (PB) ran up to the December 31, 1955 strip. January 1, 1956 was a Sunday. If they had continued into 1956, I presume GC would have skipped the Sunday strip, as they had skipped every Sunday strip from 1955. You can find it on the regular Peanuts page:
www.gocomics.Com/peanuts/1956/01/01
The just completed PB cycle started on GC on December 5, 2018. That strip from October 2, 1950 (how I hate him) eventually showed up here on GC’s PB on November 7 of this week as the start of the current cycle.
The cycle before the just completed one did not go as far. The last daily strip it showed was from August 14 of 1954, which ran on GC on August 14 of 2018. Note that PB was in sync with the 2018 calendar at that time. GC then ran 20 consecutive Sunday strips (8/15/1954 – 12/26/1954). The 12/26/1954 Sunday strip ran on GC on December 4, 2018.
Peanuts was published as a Monday-Saturday strip for the first 15 months. The first Sunday strip appeared in January of 1952. So we will not see a Sunday strip in the current cycle for some time 13 months. And if GC does not make any further adjustments, its PB will not be in sync with the calendar when it resumes 7-days-per week publication.
I can’t help but notice that Snoopy has a flower growing out of his head. I guess that is necessary to set up the joke, but does it strike anyone else as somewhat surrealistic? If we could ask Schultz how or why a dog would be in this situation, I wonder how he would have explained it?

These drawings are lame. This guy will never make it.

Interesting, so I guess they didn’t want to color the 1956 strips? Like how the Sundays stopped showing up.

That’s going back all the way to the first year — I think it was 1951.

I understand why they chose to reset – the characters look like they do in later strips and are almost to the point of acting that way.
I’ve sat through “Peanuts Begins” since they started the re-run – but I think once was enough for me. I’m gonna pull this one from the rotation.

I used to have Peanuts books that had many of the early strips. But not THIS early. Will enjoy watching the strip evolve.

Snoopy had a flower growing out of his head?
I had a pun about someone removing the flower from Snoopy in mind, but it’s a family strip.

Let’s do the time warp again. Back to the beginning. I’ll still follow along. It’s still interesting to see these early strips.

With 50 years of Peanuts strips, why keep re-starting them??

Snoopy was such a happy puppy. Patty rained on his parade.
