I hope men don’t shop for electronics like the way this salesman is implying. A “handheld PC” (lol) was a pretty big purchase with a lot of capabilities, and I would think that no one (Cathy or otherwise) would go in and just buy one without asking questions. Buckle up, kids, this week may be a ride on a sexist rollercoaster.
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Monday! Have a great day, all!
I’ve only know one woman who shopped as prepared as Cathy is in this strip. She went in with her husband to buy a specific model of used car at 2:00 p.m. The saleman tried to switch her to another model, tried to negotiate only with her husband, had “fake meetings” with his supervisor and generally tried all the tricks to wear her down. At 10:00 p.m., when the dealership was closing down, she got the exact deal she had asked for initially.
At the last minute, she refused to sign until he added a clause that they move the seat covers from the old car to the new car. He readily agreed. She told me he almost cried when he discovered the seats would have to be removed from the old car to make the switch. Because everyone else had gone home, he had to do it himself.
A good answer to the salesman’s question could be “The one that suits me best”. Then maybe he might just listen to her questions.
Every few years when I need a new computer I give the shop owner (either one of the two) a list of the features/configuration I want. If it is a laptop then I let him or her pick the make and model, if a desktop he builds one to my specs. Note that they do question my requirements and make suggestions for things I may have overlooked. In all it usually takes less than 10 minutes. Of course I then have to wait for delivery which can take a week or two. Unfortunately now I have to break in a new owner/salesman. The couple who owned the store retired after 26 years – and I have been a customer for all of that 26 years.
A little tinkering/playing around can be good, but as others have said, checking out ALL of them just might be going a bit overboard. Leave it to comic Cathy, huh?

She lost him at the “let’s get them ALL out”. Doesn’t work that way, Cathy – WAY too many!

Careful who you mess with.
