That is one of the effects of our atmosphere. It helps protect us from meteors.

I like to create conspiracy theories. Last year, we hit an asteroid with a projectile, proving that we can deflect an asteroid from Earth. Scientists said it was equivalent to hitting a speeding bullet with a BB. Maybe they’re practicing. Maybe they know that a planet-killing asteroid will hit Earth in just a few years, and they are keeping it a secret to prevent panic.

Rock solid defense.

I’m not so sure, they haven’t kept players from getting concussions.
