Fun fact: the usage of “hick” comes from the Hicks family that owned a lot of farmland in Brooklyn in the 19th century. When they brought their produce down to the Fulton ferry, where the Brooklyn Bridge now stands, to sell in Manhattan people would say “Here come the Hicks”.
