I don’t know what the newest iFruits had at the time this was first published, or what they have today, but I have an eight-core CPU with each core running at 3.5 GHz, which is the equivalent of a single core running at 28 GHz.
LOL – back in the day I bought my first computer through that huge “Computer Shopper” magazine. 8088 running at 4 or 5 MHz (but would turbo to ten, though not all programs would run properly at that speed. I splurged for the CGA graphics card to get color and, according to all my computer savvy friends, I “wasted” money on a 30 MGB hard drive… it was a waste because I would never need that much hard drive, even if I spent the rest of my life trying.
This strip is from 2003, when Apple computers still used PowerPC chips. By this point, Intel processors had been improving at a faster rate for years, and Mac users were well aware their platform of choice had fallen behind Windows in performance. In 2005, Apple switched to Intel processors.
Although this happened 20 years ago and more, it still has ramifications today. Slow PowerPC chips caused most game developers to give up on Mac. They haven’t come back yet.

Seems like a rather fruitless activity.
