Get him interested in Irish road bowling. Two players or teams take turns rolling a metal ball along country roads until they complete a prescribed course. Each throw ends where the ball either stops or goes off the road, and the next throw is taken from that point.

I thought I had made this up (under the name "cross country bowling) when I was asked to create the silliest sport I could imagine, but later discovered it’s an actual thing, and Michael Palin even covered it in one of his travelogue videos.

Why not just buy it locally?! The local bowling alley probably has several for sale

I guess she never heard about just going to the bowling alley pro shop and buying a ball there. Then again, there wouldn’t be a gag for the cartoon.
