Danae: Hey, Jeffery ... you up for some mud football after school? Jeffery: Um ... no. Danae: Why not? Jeffery: Because it involves two of the three thing I fear the most ... messiness and pain. Danae: OK, I'll bite ... what's the third? Jeffery: The moon escaping Earth's orbit, thus ending all life, which is more likely to happen than getting me to play mud footbal.

I used to play mud football with a couple of my friends. If the field wasn’t already muddy, we soaked it down with a garden hose for about fifteen minutes. Gawds, that was messy!

Didn’t the moon escape Earth’s orbit back in 1999? I seem to recall a TV series about it…

Oh Jeffrey, don’t be a stick in the mud.

Like Jeffrey, I had an aversion to messiness as a kid. And because you are a kid and almost all kid play involves messiness, it is the result of great stress.

Actually ejcapulet, it’s because Jeffrey is wise to Danae’s schemes.

From mud I came forth so in mud I shall play while the man in the moon slowly wanders away.

Danae, do something mischievously. When the school is over, you and Jeffery walk down to the muddy pond. You take Jeffery’s eyeglasses and push him into the muddy pond. Let Jeffery throwing tantrum eruptively.

Another example of opposites attract.

reminds me of something John Madden wrote about AFC/NFC. Danae would be more an AFC type, Jeffrey seems to me is more into bacci ball

Some people are worriers. Jeffrey seems to me to be a world class worrier.

When I was a teenager in California, about 10-15 of us would go to the local junior high school every New Year’s day for our Annual Mud Bowl (tackle, no pads). What a hoot! I remember one time, one of the guys got tackled at full speed. He must have slid at least 20’ in the mud, face down.

Mud luscious!

What does Jeffery know. According to Danae, he’s just a dumb booger-brained boy

Nothing like playing naked with some coeds in the mud in a spring rain, ooh

The Moon is wandering away from Earth since it’s birth and will keep on doing that. I don’t think that that will be the end of all life.
