Yeah, Penny, wearing that cashiers attire doesn’t help, lol. From past experience, even if managers are assisting with the cashier, they usually wear something else to stand out from the others— or at least a name tag clearly identifying you in your role as manager!
I’m the oldest employee in my store so customers make assumptions. I’m quite happy that I get to page a supervisor or the manager to rescue me from “difficult” customers!
