"Cord"ial excursions.
We were issued beepers and had to find pay phones.
1980, in a parallel universe.
Before landlines, a string between 2 cans.
I lived before cellphones and I don’t recall ever seeing people do that.
Back then, you could find knots of people at every corner.
T-Mobile, the “T” stands for trip. Oops!
Oh The good old days!!
No. Not really.
It should be tin cans on the end of the pieces of string.
I do remember telephone booths, gave you a little privacy.
Those cords did not work past about 25 feet

We did try to stretch the line from one room to the next. Or a closet.
I can remember when cell phones were rare expensive items that were only used by people who worked in remote places.
We were too poor and all we could afford was empty Campbell’s soup cans and fish string.
Radio Shack walkie talkies for the kiddos.
There are probably some people who believe this.
I had a 20 foot extention cord with my land line, so as to walk into other rooms. Sometimes it got tangled up!
If you know your party’s extension cord, you may dial it at any time.
I think I’m done.
You might remember the Fisher Price chatter phone on wheels.
