I’m just over five foot, and don’t remember the last time someone mentioned my height, or that I even thought about it. Maybe because I have always liked being small— it gave me a whole set of very desirable men who were short too, and therefore considered undesirable by taller girls. Even if that hadn’t been the case, it was never a problem for me, although I do remember being told that no one would think of me as being tiny if they knew me.
People tell me all the time that I have long hair. Seriously, “Your hair is really long.” Like I had no idea. Like it happened some time after I walked out of the house and I couldn’t possibly have noticed. I’ve had people stop my on the street to alert me to the fact.
I’ve been short all my life, and it never bothered me at all. However, now that I live in Mexico, where on the average people are shorter than they are in the US, it kind of feels good not to be “short” any more!

It’s as if people didn’t think we know how tall we are and how much we weigh. Did we leave our bodies somewhere?

“People snidely ask me why my hair is pink. I tell them my doctor once told me I have good red blood … and I guess it went to my head!”

If she were taller it would be hard to tell her apart from Kendall Jenner.

Aunty, don’t knock being short. At least you won’t bump your head walking around aboard a warship.
