A cat can be a good exercise partner. I got Colette to be a muse but she has become more useful as a coach. She will walk with me for a bit then sit and groom while I continue doing laps of the cul-de-sac. Sometimes I think she is not paying attention but if I go out of sight for more than a minute, I will soon see she has moved where she can keep me in line-of-sight.
When I am ready to go in, I tell her. However, if I get halfway home and she’s not coming, I go back, pet her, and tell her again. I may do this two to four times before she is satisfied I have done enough laps and comes back to the yard with me.
